Don Landgren Jr.
Don Landgren Jr. has been the editorial cartoonist for The Landmark, a weekly newspaper in Central Massachusetts, since 1982, where he mainly covers local issues. He has also drawn cartoons for other Central Massachusetts newspapers including The Item in Clinton, Mass., The New Leader in Spencer, Mass. and the Marlboro Enterprise.
His work has also appeared in the Boston Herald, Editorial Humor, Constitution magazine, Public Citizen magazine, Dog Fancy and Cat Fancy magazines and in the yearly book series, Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year.
One cartoon on recycling, published in the 1991 edition of Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year, has been used in many educational text books by publisher Steck-Vaughn. That same original cartoon is currently archived in the large collection at the Ohio State University Cartoon Research Library.
His infamous Ebonics cartoon is featured in "Beyond Ebonics," a book by Stanford University linguistics professor John Baugh published by Oxford University Press.
He has won many awards for his editorial cartoons from the Massachusetts Press Association as well as awards from the New England Press Association, Suburban Newspapers of America and the National Newspaper Association. He has also won numerous awards from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association (NEAPNEA) and from the Society for News Design and UPI New England.for his page designs at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
Landgren has been a member of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists since 1986 and was the spring editor of the AAEC's quarterly newsletter "The Notebook." The National Caricaturists Network accepted him as a member in 2001. The National Cartoonists Society granted him regular membership in 2006.
He works full-time for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as their chief graphic designer. He is a 1984 graduate of Anna Maria College. Don and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters, Kyra and Bridget.
